Literacy Mentoring Program
Program ID: PRG00129Decode Project’s primary program offering is its evidence-based structured literacy intervention program, providing individualized, 1:1 and small-group literacy instruction for children and youth ages 4–18. Students, known as Decoders, work with trained Literacy Mentors at least twice per week using Science of Reading-aligned, multisensory, phonics-based instruction tailored to their individual literacy needs. Instruction targets foundational skills including phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Decode also partners with families through caregiver orientation, workshops, and school advocacy support. The program is designed to make high-quality literacy intervention accessible to families regardless of income, with free or reduced-cost services and a commitment that no child is turned away because of financial need.
