Mission: To improve lives and our community by engaging people to give, advocate, and volunteer. For more than 100 years, Metro United Way (MUW) has worked to improve lives across the Greater Louisville region. Today, MUW brings together people, organizations, resources, and ideas to create lasting change across our seven-county region in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Through investment, advocacy, capacity building, data, direct resources, and cross-sector collaboration, we work to strengthen the systems and communities that help children, families, and neighborhoods thrive. Our work centers on three interconnected pillars: Thriving Kids, Strong Households, and Equitable Community. Through Thriving Kids, we support children and young people from early childhood through young adulthood. Initiatives such as Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ), Ready4K, and the Youth Success Network connect families and young people to developmental, educational, mentoring, college and career, and out-of-school-time supports. The Youth Success Network brings together more than 200 youth-serving organizations to strengthen the quality, capacity, and coordination of programs serving young people ages 6–24. Through Strong Households, we connect individuals and families with resources that support stability, financial well-being, and economic mobility. This includes 211, which connects community members to health and human services, as well as partnerships and initiatives focused on housing, workforce development, financial stability, and access to essential resources. Through Equitable Community, we work alongside residents and community partners to address systemic barriers, strengthen neighborhoods, advance racial equity, and increase community voice and power. Initiatives such as H.O.P.E. United and Young Men United complement broader investments, advocacy, and collaborative efforts designed to create more equitable systems and communities. Across these areas, MUW serves as a connector, convener, investor, capacity builder, advocate, and systems-change partner, working alongside community to build a Greater Louisville region where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
